"Forget the old notion of retiring to the golf course. "What do we get people to save for instead of retirement? How about freedom, age-irrespective freedom...Get to the place financially where you can do what you want, with whom you choose, at the pace that's comfortable to you -- that's a whole lot better than retiring."

Skiing at Mt. Bachelor in Central Oregon.
A recent trip to Portugal.
Hood River and the Columbia River Gorge from Underwood Mountain.
The spectacular Oregon coast.
What was the best concert you've ever attended?
While the Hannah Montana screamfest with my daughter came close, Springsteen (every one) wins without a doubt.
What's the last book you read?
Timeline by Michael Crichton. Fascinating concept of trying to survive in a totally foreign era — Medieval Europe.
Where's your favorite place in the world?
My happy place is Hood River, OR in the Columbia River Gorge. What’s not to like — mountains, microbreweries, orchards, wineries, and water sports at the base of Mt. Hood.
Who is your least favorite superhero?
I never really understood all the hoopla surrrounding Peter Potamus and his Hippo Hurricane Holler. I always thought So-So should have been the lead.
